CLINICAL MEANING
SAA (also known as Serum Amyloid A) is a major feline acute phase proteins that is produced in the liver in response to inflammatory cytokines. When systemic inflammation or infection is present, the SAA concentration in the blood will increase and reach the peak within 4-6 hours.
Continuous detection of SAA is useful for diagnosing and monitoring systemic inflammation
and infection in cats.
